Denouncing Ignatieff

I had hope in the Liberal leadership candidates there for a moment. Really, I did. Turns out front-runner Ignatieff is just a pandering buffoon like so many others. What's sad is that it so often works!

Incidentally, here's what the mainstream media didn't want you to hear about Qana:

As to Harper saying they're all anti-Israel, Scott Brison is explicitly pro-Israel (but then he's a progressive conservative at heart). Findlay and Dryden are certainly no friends of Israel, while the rest avoid making their position too explicit, which allows both sides to delude themselves into believing they've got a friendly attitude.

That makes two political scenes I'm fed up with. The Liberal leadership scene and the Quebec political scene, where none of the leaders are worth.

Harper claiming that all the Liberal candidates except Volpe and Brison are "anti-Israel" are aboust as close as he can come without calling them and the Liberal Party "anti-semetic".

He brazenly tried to use this as a wedge issue and followed the Republicans playbook of trying to divide people... but instead of doing it by race,, he tried to do it by ethnic community. He should be ashamed of himself.

I grant you that he exagerated. Dion has stated his support for Israel's right to defend itself (albeit in an abstract wishy-washy way that allows him to say otherwise in a concrete situation, as happened this past summer). Rae is too politically savvy to do that (plus his wife is Jewish and he has the support of the strongly pro-Israel Irwin Cotler).

However, the fact of the matter is that much of the Liberal party is in fact anti-Israel. And as some prominent members have recently shown, anti-semitic as well (the Young Lib telling Zionists to get out, the pro-hezbollah marchers, various screeds in the blogopshere).
